I feel it is also important to narrate to the readers information about my family background, my academic years and relevant period of service because this would indicate how ordinary I am and why I failed to remain in the organization during my college and university days and why I joined again during my service life after a long gap. Keeping this in mind, I have described the above background along with my experience as a JD NCC cadet in the Prologue part of this book. In writing this book, I have mainly depended on my memories and some records which I retained somehow in my personal files. don’t have the practice of writing a diary and that is why I might have missed some valuable information, some relevant events and some important names which should have been mentioned. I beg excuse for those omissions and desire to include those, if in future, I get any pportunity to remember the same. I acknowledge with thanks, help and cooperation received from the Principals and Staff of Karimganj College and the Commanding Officers and staff of 4 Assam Bn NCC, Karimganj who were there during my period of service and even after relinquishment from service. I would like to record my deep sense of gratitude here for the couragements which I received from my teacher Prof Nirmal Kanti Bhattacharjee of G. C. College, Silchar. I thank 3 ex-cadets of A Company NCC, Karimganj College viz. Subrata Kumar Dey, Musaraf Hussain Choudhury and Subrata Bhattacharjee for their assistance in ecollecting some old events. I thank Arijit Choudhury and Samarjit Choudhury, who were connected with editing and publishing weekly Jugashakti, for providing me some old paper cuttings of important events. The encouragements and help I received from my colleagues Dr Sabyasachi Roy and Nayanendu Das of Karimganj College and DrArunima Das Hazarika of J. B. College are
