Synopsis

The Past 3 decades have seen the emergence of a growing desire worldwide to take positive actions to restore and protect the environment from the degrading effects of all forms of pollution: air, noise, solid waste and water. Because pollution is a direct or indirect consequence of waste. The main objective of this book is to provide enough knowledge about air pollution, its management and control engineering to the students.
The book titled Air Pollution and Control Engineering has been prepared with a view to meet the needs of students consequent to the revision of the syllabus for BE (CSE, ECE, MECH, EEE, EIE, IT and geoinformatics) and ME (Environmental Engineering), Anna University, it will meet the requirements of all engineering students of other universities too.
In the first chapter, the basics of air pollution, its source, classification and effects on human health, vegetation, animals, property, aesthetic value and visibility have been discussed thoroughly. In the second chapter, the effects of meteorology on air pollution have been included. The third chapter deals with control of particulate contaminants and factors affecting selection of control equipment. The fourth chapter deals with the control of gaseous contaminants. The Fifth chapter deals with sources, types and control of indoor air pollutants and Nosie pollution.
This book is unique in the sense that it imparts more knowledge about the basics of air pollution and control engineering. Besides, all necessary theories and drawings are presented for the better understanding of Students.
Valuable comments and suggestion towards the Improvement of this book will be greatly acknowledged
