Synopsis

Realising one's full potential, fostering social justice, and advancing a country's development all depend on education. The experiential learning approach is given particular attention in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The experiential approach has a proven value and is more applicable in the competitive and complicated learning environment of today. This approach will encourage teachers and students to embrace diversity in the classroom. As a result, this method fosters a deep engagement with the curriculum and promotes practical experience, critical thinking, problem-solving techniques, and learning by doing.

By placing students at the centre of the learning process, this approach goes beyond rote memorisation and passive learning. The significance of experiential learning according to the NEP and its revolutionary effects on education are examined in this article. Teachers can help students and academicians gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter, retain information for longer periods of time, and develop critical skills that will help them succeed in both their academic and professional lives by promoting experiential learning in high schools.

NEP 2020, however, recommended that "pedagogy must evolve to make education more experiential, holistic, integrated, inquiry-based, competency-based, discussion-based, flexible, and learner centred" to fulfil its goal of providing students with a practical and comprehensive education that will prepare them for the future. Chapters on the value of experiential learning in teaching and learning with reference to NEP 2020 are included in this book “Experiential Learning - Perspective with reference to NEP 2020”.
