The criminal justice system is comprised of numerous interrelated pillars, like academia, law enforcement, forensic services, the judiciary, and corrections. These pillars are required to ensure the rule of law and justice for all. Legal justice is the consequence of shaping the rights of individuals with the government’s equivalent duty to safeguard and defend those rights – referred to as due process. These constitutional prerogatives cannot be given and secured without the enduring assurances of those professionals working in the criminal justice system. Subsequently, such professionals must imbibe themselves to the virtuous principles of the criminal justice system and showcase the persistent veracity in their personality. This can only be accomplished with the help of a well-intentioned and fully defined code of professional ethics that provides capability, consistency, culpability, and overall credibility – when properly controlled.
